FLEXIBLE FELT

Flexible graphite felt

is manufactured by the graphitization of carbon.felt.

  • This process makes for smaller specific surface areas and greatly reduced pump-down times under high vacuum.
The very low ash content is indispensable for high-purity materials production plants and ensures high oxidation resistance of graphite felts

Application

The application examples given are based on our present state of knowledge SIGRATHERM's unique textile, chemical and thermal properties, however, allow other problems to be solved as well. For this reason, close cooperation with users and processing companies is very important.

Thermal insulation

  • For resistance-or induction-heated vacuum fornaces and inert gas furnaces,
such as degassing furnaces, brazing furnaces, soft and bright annealing furnaces,
sintering furnaces for hard metals, carburizing furnaces, laboratory graphitizing furnaces.
  • For inductively heated melting and holding furnaces, in which a proportion of the ceramic
insulating material is replaced by SIGRATHERM in order to increase the electrical efficiency
and prevent the liquid metal fron coming into contact with the induction coil in the event of crucible fracture(no wetting).
  • For nucleat reactor technology(small cross-sectional area for neutron absorption).

Porous electrodes

  • For accumulators and fuel cells

Catalyst support

  • Simplified recovery of the catalyst by heat treatment

Backing strips for soldeting and welding

  • No wetting, no smouldering

Adsorption agent

  • Adsorption agent after activation. Surface area increase up to 700m2/g.

Corrosion--resistant vessel linings

  • Used together with corrosion-resistant resins

Filters

  • For hot and/or corrosive gases and liquids.
    For molten metals(no vetting)

RIGID FELT

RIGID FELT

Rigid Felt refers to an insulating material made of graphite fiber and carbon, and its necessity is increasing in industrial furnaces under the recent rapid technological development of the electronic industry. In high-temperature furnaces such as industrial heat treatment furnaces, ceramic sintering furnaces, and cemented carbide sintering furnaces, high-quality insulation materials are required. Graphite Felt is a material for high-purity products and is an indispensable product where resistance from high temperatures is required.

Usage

  • Carbon, ceramic, cemented carbide sintering furnace
  • A furnace for growing crystals such as silicon
  • Various vacuum deposition furnaces
  • With HIP (Hot isostatic press) of cemented carbide
  • Insulation in vacuum heat treatment furnace or inert gas furnace

Features

  • It is suitable for places where high purity is required due to the low content of microelements
  • Excellent high temperature oxidation resistance.
  • Excellent insulation.
  • General mechanical processing such as hole and cutting is easy.
  • Foil-coated products improve resistance from corrosion, reflection, radiant heat and convection.

Properties

  • Flexible, soft
  • Very good resistance to thermal shock
  • Low coefficient of friction
  • Impermeable to gases and liquids
  • Can be used from cryogenic temperatures up to more than 550℃ depending on installation and operating conditions
     - in an inert atmosphere up to approx. 3000℃
     - in steam up to approx. 550℃
     - for applications of more than approx. 400℃, users should request our advice
  • Resistant to most media, is not wetted by molten metals or salts
  • Asbestos-free, presents no health hazard No ageing or embrittlement, because of absence of binders and fillers
  • Can be supplied with high purity
  • Long-term stability of compressibility and recovery over a wide temperature range No measurable cold or warm flow up to maximum permissible gasket stress
  • Properties highly anisotropic particularly in respect fo electrical and thermal conductivity
  • Easily machined by cutting or punching
  • Excellent stability under high compressive stress
  • Can be bonded using commercial adhesives

Packing

  • The foils are wound onto card board cores. Stable flanges with handles ensure that the wound foil does not come into contact with the floor and is easy to handle. Rolls of this type are supplied in rigid card board boxes.
